Global pet feed production accounted for 2.5% of total feed in 2020
Feed is a safe and effective feedable substance that can provide nutrients needed by animals, promote growth, production and health of animals, and is safe and effective under rational use. According to product breed cent, feed can be divided into pig feed, egg feed, meat feed, ruminant feed, aquatic feed, pet feed and other feed.
According to Alltech's global feed survey, the global feed production increased year by year from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, despite the impact of the epidemic, the global feed production still increased by 1% to 1,188 million tons.

In terms of feed types, the global feed output of broiler chickens in 2020 reached 335 million tons, accounting for 28.2% of the global feed output. The feed production of pig industry was 286 million tons, accounting for 24.1% of global feed production. The feed output of laying hens, dairy cows and beef cattle was 160 million tons, 129 million tons and 116 million tons, accounting for 13.5%, 10.8% and 9.8%, respectively. Pet feed accounts for 2.5 percent of global feed production.
Europe and America account for 60% of the world's pet feed production
Although the pet feed in the global feed production accounted for a small proportion, but with the pet hot, pet food development, in recent years the pet feed production all the way up. In 2018, global pet feed production was 266 million tons, and by 2020, it will grow to 29.3 million tons.
In the global pet feed production, Europe and the United States have a bright performance. In 2020, the output of pet feed in North America was 9.41 million tons, accounting for 32.1% of the total. The output of pet feed in Europe was 9.36 million tons, accounting for 31.9% of the whole. Latin America and Asia Pacific account for 21.8% and 10.9% of global pet feed production, respectively. Europe and the United States account for 60% of the world's pet feed production.
The global pet market is mainly composed of pet food, pet products and other pet food. According to Euromonitor data, the scale of the global pet market increased year by year from 2016 to 2020. The global pet market reached 138.243 billion US dollars in 2020, an increase of 4.40% compared with 2019.
